On the eve of his commissioning the Cold War ended??? good for the world, maybe, but did anyone think how it would affect a young lieutenant's career prospects? No-o-o-o, of course not. In need of money but not good looking enough for normal prostitution, he became a journalist. Not a real journalist, either, but a copy editor and page designer.
