Authors | Maya Kaathryn Bohnhoff
Born in California, raised in Nebraska, Maya Bohnhoff still considers herself a mid-westerner. Her fascination with speculative fiction dates from the night her dad let her stay up late to watch The Day the Earth Stood Still. Mom was furious. Dad was unrepentant. Maya slept with a nite-lite until she was fifteen and developed a passion for things that came from outer space or went bump in the night.
Her short fiction has been published in Analog, Amazing Stories, Century, Realms of Fantasy, and Interzone, and she is the author of THE MERI (a Locus Magazine 1992 Best First Novel) and four subsequent Baen fantasy / speculative fiction novels. In 1999, her short story The White Dog (Interzone #142) made the short list for the British Science Fiction Award.
Maya also writes and performs music with her husband Jeff, with whom she produces original and parody music CDs. Their parody "Knights in White Satin" won the Pegasus award for Best Parody. The couple also won the 2005 Pegasus for Best Performer. To top it off, the couple has also produced three amazing children: Alex, Avery, and Amanda.
