Authors | M. T. Reiten
M. T. (Matt) Reiten started out in North Dakota where he began writing science fiction and fantasy in high school. After college, he joined the US Army as a signal officer, served two tours in Bosnia, and returned to civilian life for graduate school. However, it wasn't until he was again deployed to Afghanistan with the Oklahoma National Guard that he was professionally published in the Writers of the Future. He also won the Phobos Award in 2004 and is excited to have stories in International House of Bubbas from Yard Dog Press and coming out Fantastical Visions IV later this year. He's not so excited about returning to studies in electrical engineering ("Lasers") at Oklahoma State University, since advisors tend to frown on too much fiction in dissertations from doctoral candidates. He currently lives in Stillwater, OK, with his wife, Beth, an academic librarian who supports his writing habit.

The ketones of grilling meat flooded the corridor, despite the laboring air scrubbers. I pulled my head back into the passenger compartment and tossed the reader onto my bunk. I opened the stowage locker and lifted my military issue pressure suit off the rack.
